Love is love, and Ashley and Chelsea have been in love for a long time. You can tell by the way they look at each other. By the way they talk to each other. And you can just feel it.
I’ve known Ashley for a long time. When my family and I lived in Montana, Ashley and Chelsea were there too. Ashley and I worked together at the time and got to know each other. She hired me to do her graduation photos and we continued to stay in touch. By now Ashley and Chelsea had moved to California. Ashley reached out to me to photograph their wedding. Their wedding in Vegas!
The funny thing is, we were starting to realize as a family that we needed to make a change. We didn’t see ourselves long term there and were starting to seek out other areas to live. My daughter and I hopped the plane to Vegas so I could be there to photograph this wedding. And my husband and our son met us in Vegas later.
We were still trying to figure out where we were supposed to be living. So we took in all we could while we were all in Vegas. I remember going out to dinner one night while we were all here. My husband says, you guys we haven’t actually thought about living here! So we all pull out our phones and start Googling everything about living in Vegas. Where to live, best schools, population. Really anything you can think of about living in a new city. We prayed, we discussed, we thought and then it happened. Everything lined up for us to move to Vegas.
I love looking back on that story and thinking this to myself. If I had not photographed Ashley and Chelsea’s wedding, we may not have moved here. When it comes to big decisions I always pray about it and put it in God’s hands. And I tell myself if it’s meant to be then everything will line up how it’s supposed to. If it’s not meant to be then things won’t work out. And you’ll have to keep trying to find different avenues.
The ladies had stayed in the Palazzo side of the Venetian hotel. They had a fun get to know you party the night before. And on the day of their wedding we met in their hotel room so I could photograph everyone getting ready. And right here is where I’m going to rave about an amazing makeup artist. One of my other favorite things about photographing weddings is getting to meet the other amazing people working on it! If you’re in need of a makeup artist in Vegas for you and your entire wedding party I’ve got one for you. Her name is Brianna and she’s the sweetest. You can check her out here at Brianna Michelle Beauty. You will NOT be disappointed.
So you know how traditionally at a wedding the couple doesn’t see each other until they walk down the aisle? Or a lot of couples will do a first look because sometimes there’s not enough time to get all of the photos after the ceremony. Their guests are waiting and they don’t want to be gone for too long. So we do what is called a First Look. Where one will turn around and the other walks up behind or they walk towards each other from different places. Ashley and Chelsea started on opposite sides of the LOVE sign at the Venetian Hotel. When they were told to they both started walking towards each other and that was their first look. It was perfect! Definitely one of the coolest first looks I’ve ever been able to photograph.
We headed to The Smith Center for the ceremony and reception. The wedding itself was outdoors as well as the reception. The entire wedding was planned by Weddings by Dzign, amazing Las Vegas wedding planners.
After Ashley and Chelsea said I do and danced and danced, the wedding party headed back to the Venetian. The ladies had gotten a ticket for everyone to ride the canal boats.
It was really an incredible experience. And I’m so happy I was the one who captured these ladies’ love for one another. If you’d like to check out more information about The Smith Center, take a look at this post!
