Let’s start off by saying how much I LOVE this Puyallup wedding venue. You guys, if you’re looking for a place to get married that has multiple photo ops, a staff that pays attention to all of the details, and a venue that has a little bit of history. Then you’re going to want to check out Rock Creek Gardens in Puyallup, Washington.
Rock Creek Gardens opened its doors as a Puyallup wedding venue in 2008. But the history goes back a little further than that. Gracie Safford, the founder of the gardens and venue director, started the venue with her father who had owned what was originally their family home for 35 years. In 2005 when Gracie’s parents were empty nesters, they came to a point where they needed to make a decision. Should they sell the property that they loved? Or turn it into something amazing? No one wanted to see the home leave their family or be demolished, especially Gracie. She knew in her heart that she wanted this family home and property to cultivate celebration and love.
So from there, the decision was made to preserve the property. It was then designed to enhance and flow with the already beautiful landscape. 100 year old cedar trees which have stood right where they still are for so long, breathtaking views of Mt. Rainier, waterfalls and stone pathways. Rock Creek Gardens can be described as a peaceful vibration. An English garden balance with the nature of the northwest and a free flowing landscape.
Rock Creek Gardens hosted its first wedding in 2008 and has been continuing to provide a beautiful wedding venue for couples ever since. Being awarded one of Washington State’s top wedding venues, Rock Creek Gardens welcomes couples from any religious belief, race, sexual orientation, and gender.
After talking with Gracie about Rock Creek Gardens, I quickly learned that the team behind the property are all about connection. They truly want your dream wedding to come true and for your story to be be told exactly where it all begins. With you marrying your best friend and starting your lives together.
Rock Creek Gardens has no in house vendors so you are free to use who you wish. They do offer the use a day of coordinator however which can be extremely beneficial on your wedding day.
On they day of your wedding you can have a beautiful, outdoor, garden ceremony followed by a white tent reception. Tables and chairs are included as well as private use of the gardens and up to 300 guests can be accommodated. Rock Creek Gardens offers real restrooms for your guests as well as a playground for use during the reception. Two of my absolute favorite things that the gardens offer are the use of a row boat (gorgeous photo op!). And the gardens themselves can be used as a pre-wedding photo location. After checking out their website at Rock Creek Gardens, I think you’ll agree with me when I say I could spend the entire day here photographing couples. Not even couples, just the gardens itself! It’s just beautiful and I can’t wait to get out there and take a tour. You can too! Tours are available by appointment only so you’re going to want to call and set that up at 253-435-0243. As soon as we are able to do so of course with everything that’s going on in the world right now.
But for the time being, please go check out Rock Creek Gardens. You can really get a feel on their website what their venue looks like. Also be sure to follow their Instagram.
Let me know what you think of Rock Creek Gardens in the comments! I’d love to see your photos if you were married there. And of course I’d love to be your wedding photographer when you get married there!
If you’re looking for a wedding venue a little further north however, check out my other blog post about Maroni Meadows. A Snohomish Wedding Venue located on five acres of trees, fields, ponds, and gorgeous walkways. I think if you’ve read my wedding venue blog posts you’re probably starting to see what type of wedding venues I love photographing weddings at! There’s kind of a theme here.
I can’t wait to get back to Washington where I grew up and get to experience photographing weddings just like this again!
