Did you set goals for 2021? I think so many of us were just waiting for 2020 to be over and now we’re already halfway through 2021 if you can believe it. Sometimes when we are halfway through a year I like to look back and reflect on plans, goals, intentions that I set for the year moving forward. Am I there? Have I reached any of these goals?
For me 2021 would be my first full year in business in the state of Washington. That was pretty exciting for me. My intentions were to meet and photograph as many people as I could. Families, weddings, maternity, I just want to tell the story. I’m what I like to call a lifestyle photographer so I capture your LIFE right now. I don’t just photograph people but their emotions, their story, and their impact on this world. When you sit down years from now and look back on these images that we made together I want you to be brought right back to that very moment. Maybe looking at your daughter laugh can remind you of her little giggle when she was younger. Maybe your son who is heading off to college now used to crinkle up his nose in a certain way and that’s something you never want to forget.
We need to continue to capture not only the people in our lives who we love but the reasons behind why we love them. If 2020 taught us anything it was to hold onto those you love and keep them close. It brought many families closer together because we were all forced to stay together in the same house. But it really did bring a lot of us together with family dinners, family game nights, story time, and just spending time together without all of the usual distractions. It helped us to LIVE life with the people we love most.
So when 2021 finally got here we had to start thinking about what this year would look like. And somehow we’re already halfway through it.
What do you do to set goals? Do you sit down and plan and strategize? Do you manifest the positivity and speak your goals into the world? Do you wing it? I would love to hear how 2021 has shaped up for you so far and if you’re meeting those goals and intentions you have set for yourself. Did you have goals for 2021? What were they? The best thing to remember is that any progress is progress so just keep moving forward. All things work out in due time if you continue to move forward.
Something also really cool that I wanted to point out is whenever I photograph a wedding I am instantly brought back to my own wedding 17 years ago. My husband and I were married in Snohomish at this cute little house called The Victorian Manor. It no longer acts as a wedding venue. It must have been sold over the years. But the women who own it now use it as the storefront for their show on HGTV called Unsellable Houses! When I heard this I couldn’t believe it and I reached out to them to see if I could stop by and say hi and check the place out now when I’m back in Snohomish! You should also really check them out at Lamb & Co I cannot wait to meet them!
